nightrideSickness 08 January 2007, 04:37 GMT, Newcastle (+11:00) Being sick generally sucks. I guess everybody hates that feeling and of course, everybody learns to appreciate being healthy once they're sick, too. However, there are sicknesses that by taking you some sort of freedom are also giving you another one. Eg. you cannot eat what you want and you cannot drink what you want and you must relax and avoid stress. So you're drinking lots of fluids and hanging around your place doing close to nothing. Looking through the window and flipping TV channels doesn't bring enough satisfaction, so after a while you find yourself doing things that were almost forgotten for a decade. You start reading. Novels, poetry, philosophy, whatever can keep you entertained. You get back to old movies you hadn't watched for ages. You call people who hardly remember you existed in their lives. To get by, you turn to activities you enjoy but you didn't have enough time for while stuck in the rollercoaster of your professional life. And just when you start enjoying your newly found freedom, your doctor sends you back to work. (c) Martinoza 2005-2008
